Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.
Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query
Diabetic neuropathy is a long standing complication in patients of
diabetes. It happens due to the adverse effects of diabetes on the nerves. SO it becomes almost obvious that good sugar control is one of the main line therapies of controlling diabetic neuropathy.
There are now some medicines that have been approved for use in the patients of neuropathy. You may talk to your treating diabetician to start these. The possible guggested drugs are
pregabalin, and
gabapentin.
A third possibility is that there is the neuropathy due to the deficiency of
vitamin B12 and
folate. So i suggest you test these levels and if found to be low, you can start the replacement of these
vitamins, which may therefore help you.
I think these 3 measures should be discussed with your diabetician, as from your query, I am not sure about the therapy you are taking for diabetes and the ongoing diabetes medications.
I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.
