Any Suggestion For Fever That Varies Between 99 And 101?

Hi, My daughter is suffering from fever from past 4 days and for the first 3 days every 6 hours frequently she used to get fever varying from 99 deg to 101 deg, earlier we gave IMOL Syrup from the day one and now Pediatrician suggested to start Advent Forte - Antibiotic for 5 days 3-ml morning and night, If fever still arises then we should continue giving IMOL along with Advent Forte or not, Kindly suggest us? Awaiting for your valuable feedback.

Hello
I admire your concern.
I think it is the time to go for investigations thoroughly rather than changing medications from time and again which will harm the child. You need to have the following investigations soon -
1. Hemoglobin, total count, differential count
2. Peripheral blood smear
3. Chest X-ray
4. Blood culture
5. Sputum for AFB if there is cough or gastric lavage for AFB
6. Mantoux test
7. Malaria dual antigen and dengue NS1 antigen
8. Widal test
9. Urine R/E, M/E
You will get answer by then.
You can write back to me if required.
Thank You.
Regards,
Dr Arnab Maji
