Hi,

From your explanation it looks like you have dark lips since birth, however if the lips started turning dark with age then it can be due to causes like excessive sun exposure, drinking too much coffee, dry lips, lip licking habit, smoking, allergy to skin or lip cosmetics, Genetic etc. So first of all you should consult a Skin Specialist and get checked so that the exact cause can be ruled out as treatment and precautions can be done in combination for better results.

For now you can:
* Apply Almond oil over the lips
* Apply Vitamin E gel as it also helps in reducing darkness of the lips/ skin
* Apply lemon as it has depigmenting properties, you can apply a mixture of lemon and honey over the lips
* Scrub your lips by mixing almond oil, honey and sugar, just mix and scrub your lips gently
* Do ice rubbing over the lips
* Keep your lips hydrated and moisturized always and do not let them dry up as it can cause pigmentation and cracks on lips
* Always apply SPF containing lip balm when going out
* Drink plenty of water, avoid licking or biting the lips and avoid direct sun exposure to the lips.
In-office or clinical treatment may include laser treatment, chemical peels, permanent makeup etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
