Aoritc Stenosis Liknk To Chest Infection

I have congential aortic stenosis, while it is mild I have had an increase in symptoms in the last few years. I have alos notice in the last 2 years I have become very suseptible to infection, catching pretty much everything going, I have had loads of chest infections. I finished antibiotics for a bad one about 2 weks ago and already have symptoms of another. Is my increase in infection in any way related to my heart or is it a coincidance that it has occured at the same time as my sympton increase?

Hi.. Heart disease can cause chest symptoms such as cough, breathlessness.. There can be incidences of secondary infections too.. Hence there are possible chances that the chest infections may be due to your heart disease.. Discuss with your doctors for more details..

Yes repeated chest infections are related to aortic stenosis (AS). Because of the AS, blood does not get pushed into the aorta from the ventricle, in a satisfactory way. This gradually results in pressure buildup in the ventricle, which is transmitted to the atrium, and in turn to the blood vessel coming from the lungs and this chain reaction compromises the lung function, leading to frequent infections.

Hello.Welcome to HCM forum.I don't think your repeated chest infection has any relation with your mild aortic stenosis.Consult a pulmonologist also along with the cardiologist for the proper diagnosis and treatment.Thanks and good luck.
