Are ADHD Medications Advisable While On Androgel Hormone Replacement Therapy?

My husband is on a large dose of androgel hormone replacement because he had one testicle removed due to a tumor and other was undecended. He also has what we believe is ADHD. I did some research and it said because he is on androgel, the meds he would need for the ADHD would be a contraindication with the androgel and would cause stroke or other life threatening side effects. Is that true? Is there any other alternative to get his ADHD under control? He has anxiety and gets depressed over it and it is e ffecting our marriage.

Hi,

How long has your husband been taking androgen replacement? I am asking this question, because low Testosteron can cause symptoms similar to ADHD. If he has started taking Androgel recently, it is possible that ADHD-like symptoms go slowly away. Despite concerns over potentiating adverse effects (aggressiveness, etc.), the full prescribing information for Testosterone gel does not mention problems regarding combining it with ADHD medications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
