Are Ambroxol And Mucolite Drops Advisable For An Infant?
Hello Dr.my baby is of 7weeks now.I gave him solving cold which contains ambroxol hydrochloride 7.5mg n with that I gave him mucolite drops 5-6 drops becoz of that he is sleeping for extra hours .is this will effect him.actually I saw its ingredients now n feeling very nervous.
Mucolite drops contains ambroxol hydrochloride which is used for treating various respiratory tract disorders associated with excessive mucus. It works by thinning and loosening mucus in the nose, the windpipe and the lungs. This makes it easier for air to move in and out. It will relieve symptoms like tightness of chest, shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. This medication is safe and effective for infants. It usually begins to work within a few minutes and the effects can last up to several hours. The most common side effects of this medication are nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, drowsiness etc. So, it should be taken as prescribed by the doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
