Are Avelox And Prednisone Advisable For Yellow And Green Mucus Drainage?
I have COPD and only take symbicort for it, but for my action plan I have avelox and prednazone stored. For the past month I have had both nostrels solidly plugged and I am coughing up yellow and green mucus all day long. My question: Is it time to take my action plan drugs? My COPD is severe and prolonged. I am 63 years old.

Hi,
Antibiotics and steroids are used for a week in case of exacerbation of COPD. Increase in the amount of sputum, change in colour of sputum, fever with increased symptoms indicates an exacerbation of COPD. So yes it's wise now to take prednisone for 7 days, and Avelox for 7 to 10 days.
