Are Azithromycin, Rifampin, And Ethambutol Together Prescribed For Treating MAC Lung Disease?

I have bad lungs - was diagnosed with mac several years ago. Saw doctor yesterday and he thinks it has flaired up again. He has prescribed azithromycin, rifampin, and ethambutol. Seems as if this is too much to take - need your opinion. Thanks so much

Hi,

Thanks for your post on HCM

I do understand your pain and discomfort

As per your history is concerned it is first line drugs in the treatment of MAC and treatment should be continued for 12 years until culture negative.

Hope that helps
