Are BP Of 174/114 And Pulse Being 99 A Cause For Concern?

Yes I just took my blood pressure and it was 174/114 and pulse was 99 and I would like to know if that is bad. I had a year and a half ago had cancer surgery and had my colon removedand was told I had lynch syndrome and I would get cancer again is this true or could it be the cause of my blood being high?

Hi,

Yes your BP is abnormally high. Based on the history you seem to have undergone removal of colon for Lynch syndrome which is an inherited condition (non-polyposis colorectal cancer).

Yes, even after removing colon there is a higher risk of a second cancer. It does not appear to be the cause for your high BP.

But for your high BP I advise you to go the emergency room of your nearby hospital for immediate assessment and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
