Are COPD And MS Related To Haemophilus Parainfluenza?

Hello. My mom has been sick with a bad cough, loss of appetite and weight loss for months. No one had answers for us so We had her do a sputum sample. Finally, they found something out and said there was haemophilus parainfluenza. She has COPD and MS as well. How long is it contagious and is it related to COPD? Will the MS impact the situation at all? Thanks
