Are Daphne Pills Safe To Take With History Of High BP During Pregnancy?
Hi! I am 31 yrs old, gave birth through normal delivery 3 months ago. I suffered from chronic hypertension during pregnancy, my BP is 130/90 during 1st and second trimester, it became 150-180/90-100 during the 3rd trimester. I am thinking of taking Daphne pills because it is the only pill that has no precautions for high blood pressure. Would it be safe for me? Injectables are costly for me and I am not comfortable to use condoms or IUD, though I haven't tried them yet,
Daphne should be safe, but rhey can at times cause unwanted rise in blood pressure in selected patients, so it would still be best to initiate the pills under supervisiom of a doctor and report for regular blood pressure monitoring during the first few days on the pill.
Please clarify whether you had rise of bp during pregnsncy only or you still have high bp....if your rise in bp was only during pregnancy then it is gestational hypertension for which you have to take precautions during next pregnancy ....otherwise in routine only salt restrictions excercise healthy eating and balanced diet would suffice. ...you can take the pills and monitor your bp while on pills.....if you have chronic hypertension where renal involvement is there then its better to consider other options for contraception
