Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Arthritis in your hand must be osteoarthritis of first carpometacarpal joint which is age related and mostly affects base of thumb. At your age it is quite common. Diclofenac and meloxicam are pain relievers and have temporary effects till they are continued. I would advise xray of involved hand anteroposterior and oblique views to confirm diagnosis. Visit to expert hand surgeon is recommended. Other treatment option is intraarticular injection of corticosteroids. All the best. Both diclofenac and meloxicam are safe to take for short periods. Long term continuation for 6 months lead to major side effects.
