Are Levipil, Acamprol And Prothiaden Advisable For Seizures In An Alcohol Addict?

sir, i was a chronic alchoholic for past so many years. last week i stopped drinnking for 2 days and had seizers 4times in a single day. iwas admitted to hospital and taken CT and MRI of brain which showed no complications. an EEG was also taken which was also normal as per the report. Now i am advised to take Levipil 500 3times, acamprol 3times @ 2each, prothiaden 25 1 daily, trapex1 1 daily and librium 3times @ 2each. please advise, do i have to take all these medicines if i am totally confident of not consuming alchohol without medicines, and if not how long have i to continue this /? also , please let me know if there is any problem in not taking acrampol, since i am yet to start the same. thanks Delton.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It may be best, for now, to use all of the medication as prescribed.

Excess alcohol use is considered an illness and though you fully intend to not use alcohol, which is great, you and many other persons as well, often need extra help.
The help is to further reduce the chance of alcohol and also to help decrease any complications of the long use of alcohol.

The same way medication is needed and helpful for many other illnesses, it is also sometimes needed for this illness.

If you do not intend to use any alcohol, then there should be no problem with the use of the acampol.

I hope this helps and wish you the best
