Are Rcinex, Benadon, Levoflox, Furic, Pantop-DSR, Ulyses And Discontinued Pyzina For Intestine TB After Noticing High SGPT And SGOT?
Hi sir/Mam my wife has intestine TB & also ulcer doctor has suggested these medicines Rcinex 450, Mycobutol 600, Pyzina 1000, Benadon 40, Levoflox, furic-40, pantop-dsr, ulyses-300 for two weeks but after KFT test he found the SGOT 144 & SGPT 209 so he told us to stop Pyzina 1000 and rest he continued for one week also told to come again after one week with KFT.... is this line of treatment is correct?
Pyrazinamide can definitely cause severe liverinjury, which may even be fatal sometimes. Though with pyrazinamide, the duration of treatment for TB is shortened, but your doctor might have stopped it taking into consideration benefits vs risks. Raised SGOT and SGPT levels may denote its ill effect on the liver.
Your doctor may want to re-assess your condition and that is the reason, he has called you again after LFT (Perhaps not KFT, as you have written). If your condition permits, he may consider to restart your pyrazinamide or may re-evaluate your treatment plan.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
