General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is better to avoid it while suffering from ataxia. Torecan is prescribed to treat nausea and vomiting.

Its common side effects include extrapyramidal symptoms or abnormal movements such as dystonia, torticoilis, oculogyric crises, motor restlessness and gait disturbances which mimic like Parkinson's disease.

These effects however may be prevented by using low dosage of or by discontinuing Torecan.

However, to treat nausea and vomiting an alternate effective medication like domperidone would be safer as it is not associated with extrapyramidal symptoms as seen with torecan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
