Are Uropecia Tablet, Tugain Foam And Xgain Shampoo Advisable For Hair Loss?

Hi Sir, I am *** suffering from hair loss . I am Male. I consulted dermatologist who told that it is androgenic alopecia and due to typhoid I had a month back. He prescribed Uropecia tablet 1 per day at night , Tugain Foam to apply night and Xgain shampoo. When I read the side effects of tugain I am really scared to use that. I am not sure about what Uropecia tablet and its side effects. I am gonna get married in 6 months. So I am having a feeling it should not become too worse and also should not be exposed to some other problems. Please suggest I should use these medications or Will I get back the hair lost due to Typhoid if I wait for few months. If I can wait , please tell me how long it will take to regain the lost hair. If you have any other medications without any side effects would be of great help. Thanks a lot in advance

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Infections like typhoid, chickenpox can cause hair fall and this condition is known as telogen effluvium. Hair fall will usually reverse in 6 months. Androgenic alopecia can cause hair fall and drugs are required to treat the condition. Since you have both the conditions, the hair fall will not reverse on its own. You can use the prescribed drugs for 3 months and watch for the results. Side effects are not very serious. Control dandruff if present before starting the medication, since Tugain may aggravate the condition.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
