Are Vyvanse And Ritalin Both Advisable For ADHD?

Dr., I have an interesting question. I am an ADHD patient, and I am currently prescribed to Vyvanse. I WAS on Ritalin for almost 30 years. I really like what Vyvanse does, but Ritalin did some things it simply doesn t. I ve read that some patients were able to get a prescription for both, at the same time. What would a doctor need to know to feel safe in writing two ADHD prescriptions?

Hi,

Most persons would not prescribe both of these medications at the same time but you can speak to your psychiatrist or psychologist to see if they would be willing to adjust your doses and prescribe them for you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
