Are Wikoryl Drops, Clamp Suspension, And Nasivion Prescribed For Infants With Cold?

Hello, My 6 months daughter has Cold, cough and flum from the past 3 days. She choked today morning while feeding. She is still on breast feed. We took her to our nearest paediatrician and had her chest x-ray done. The paediatrician suggested few medications and told us that our baby has chest infection. Small dots appeared on her right chest in the x-ray. The doctor suggested us the following medications. 1. Wikoryl oral drops : 6 drops 3 times 3days 2. Clamp suspension 2.5 ml 3 times 3 days 3. S.muscolite syrup 1.5 ml 3 times 3 days 4. Nasivion basal drops 2 drops 3 times 3 days Are these all given to infants. Please suggest. Thanks Pooja

It's a common problem in pediatric age group but very worrisome for the mothers. Yes we doctors do prescribe these drugs but in truth home remedies should be tried before hitting infants with drugs like steam inhalation etc
Wikoryl is a combination of Paracetamol, Chlorpheniramine maleate and phenyl ephrine which tend to dry up the nasal secretions and give sense of relief from running nose and irritability. And nasal drops helps in clearing the airway.
Mucolyte makes the nasal secretions more watery and prevent nasal stuffiness and crusting.
