Are Zetia And Atorvastatin Combined Intake Recommended For Treating Cholesterol And Muscle Pain?

I am a 77years old retired surgeon who is on 20mg of Atrovastin for the past one year. My last total cholesterol is 167mg and LDL WAS 101. I was on 40mg. of Atrovastin before and my HDL WAS 98MG.i HAD A SUCCESSFUL RT. CAROTID ENDARTERECTOMY WITHOUT ANY CMPLICATION.I continue to have muscle pain while am doing my exercise. My internist recently suggested to add 10 mg of Zetia with ATROVOSTATIN.I AM NOT URE WHEHER THIS COMBINATION IS BENEFICIAL EXSPECIALY AT MY AGE!

Zetia is composed of 'Ezetimibe', which is a drug that lowers plasma cholesterol levels. It acts by decreasing cholesterol absorption in the small intestine.

It may be used alone or together with statins. It doesn't help to overcome muscle symptoms associated with statin intake.

To reduce the intensity of muscle symptoms associated with statins, you need to take medications containing Vitamin E, Selenium, Lipoic acid, CoQ10 and carnitine.

Kindly consult your Physician for an appropriate prescription for its intake.
