Are Back Pain, Cramping And White Mucus Discharge Signs Of Labor Pain?

Hello I am 38 weeks, been having back pain and cramping for the past few weeks. Discharge aswell. Today just seems like the whole white mucus plug keeps coming out. Plus pain in lower back and so much pressure down there. I was 4 centimeters dilated on Thursday. Should I go to labor and delivery? Pain is actually getting worse by time. Please help

Hi,
I understand your concern.
A 38 weeks of pregnancy, with back ache, mucus discharge with down pressure
suggests begining of labor pain/ with decent of fetus in pelvic cavity.
* Labor pains staring from back are carried forword to contract uterus-which becomes hard as a stone. It then goes to lower abdomen, causing pressure ,goes to thighs & disappears.
a) - To start with, these pains last for a moment & remains for 10 seconds to goes away -mucus discharge with some times blood tinge..
b) - Gradually pains start to come earlier( every40 minutes),remain for longer time ( 20 seconds ) to cause rectal pressure & vanishes along with rectal pressure.- Copious mucus & blood discharge.
c)- Final pains are still faster ( 20 -10 minutes) remain there for 30 -40 seconds & causes bulging out through vagina/ rectal pressure persists till delivery of baby. The discharge is bloody, still more. bag of membranes ruptures so watery discharge is added.Child birth is within 30 minutes - 1 1/2 hour.
I have given you rough idea about progress of labor
* I feel it's better to get examined by your doctor/nurse-who is going to attained you at labor.& be convinced about fetal condition & pelvic adequity.,
* It's better to get admitted during pains described in b) .
Wish you all the best.
Thanks.
