Are Birth Control Pills The Cause For Unwanted Hair On The Chin?
I am an 18 year old female, I m 5 8 and 130 lbs. About 3 months ago, completely out of nowhere I started growing a bit of facial hair on my chin. There isn t too much of it and none of it s on my neck or the side of my jaw, just a bit jutting out from the tip of my chin. It s darker than normal peach fuzz, (not black, but definitley brown) and grows back quickly after I shave it. I ve been taking birth control for nearly 2 months now, is that causing it? Or will that help it go away. Thank you
The contraceptive would not normally cause the hair growth but if there is no other change, you can try discontinuing it to see if this has any effect.
Abnormal hair growth is called hirsutism There are other causes of hirsutism such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, other hormonal diseases such as cushings, due to a mass.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is common. This is associated with abnormal hair growth, irregular periods, acne, difficult conception.
These conditions are diagnosed by blood tests and imaging.
I hope this helps
