Are Bleeding And Cramping Normal After A Pelvic And Transvaginal Ultrasound?

I had a pelvic and transvaginal ultra sound today to check on fibroid issue because having trouble holding urine lately. I bled when I was asked to empty my bladder - bright red blood and now I am very worried. I also feel cramping - is this due to the test? is bleeding normal?

Hi,

There is less chance of injury during transvaginal ultrasound but there may be a possibility of that. Kindly consult with gynecologist regarding that. You may require tab. Tranexamic acid for a few days. It will not affect your future periods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

OBGYN Dr. Minakshi Biradar's  Response
Hi,

No, generally, sonography does not cause bleeding. First, confirm your date of the period. It may be a complication of fibroid and it is called abnormal uterine bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
