Hi Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Understanding your concern.
Thanks for your query . The condition you mention in query could be possible .
Because sometimes virus after infection do not completely eliminated from body , it remains in body in dormant stage and can reactivated by certain trigger factor .
HSV can spread due to any physical contact like kissing.
I would suggest you to :-
- Apply ice on sores or such on ice cube .
- Do antiseptic mouthwash (listrine) rinses .
- Avoid spicy , salty and acidic food .
- Take
advil (if not allergic ) or
tylenol for pain and discomfort .
Symptoms usually go away by their own in 1-2 weeks . if they persist for more then two weeks . Consult oral pathologist for proper examination and to rule out causes like
canker sore .
Doctor may order virus culture test or tzanck test to confirm the diagnosis .
Doctor may prescribe anti viral drugs like
acyclovir , famcicclovir or valacyclovir. He/she may alos prescribe anti viral ointment.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
