Are Bloating And IBS Side Effects Of Depo-Provera Shots?
Hi, I have been on the depo shot for almost two years now and was wondering if it can cause gas and IBS symptoms. I have gotten several blood tests done for inflammation and an endoscope and everything has come back completely normal. I have also started an non dairy non gluten diet to see if that will help but it has not. This is the last thing that I can think of.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Bloating and IBS are certainly not the side effects of Depo preparations. Also, most side effects encountered while on depot shots are seen in the initial few months after it is administered. IBS is mainly caused due to inflammation of the digestive tract (small intestine). It needs to be evaluated by certain investigations like ultrasound abdomen and few blood tests. Once confirmed, it can be treated with medications like antibiotics, probiotics and multivitamins. Kindly consult Physician in this regard for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
