Are Brown Discharge And Cramping During Pregnancy Signs Of Abortion?

I am 8 weeks pregnant. I have been having brown discharge on and off for the past two weeks and today it became red/pink and was more watery like a light period. It is coming out on tissue but not enough to fill a pad. I have very minor cramping but have had that since I knew I was pregnant. Is this a sign of a miscarriage?
