Are Confusion, Headache, Pain In Rib And Neck Normal While Recovering From Mild Concussion?

Hi. I was run into yesterday on a water slide and hit in the head. I don t really remember that moment or a few hours after honestly, so I don t know exactly what happened. I was confused and asking the same questions of my husband for several hours after the incident. By yesterday evening, my clarity and most of my memory has returned. This morning, I awoke to a headache, a very sorry neck, and rib pain/constriction when I breathe or cough. I don t have insurance at the moment, so I don t want to go get checked out unless really necessary. I just want to know if those things are common when recovering from a mild concussion, if they will go away on their own, and what signs would indicate that I really did need to go see somebody. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
br>It takes 2 weeks on an average to recover from mild concussion. Your symptoms of confusion, repeated questioning headache definitely indicate concussion and you need to attend ER. If the symptoms don't regress after 6 weeks of the jolt. I feel your pain in neck and rib. Also, pain in breathing are suggestive of some cervical spinal / rib problems after the accident. I feel you need to consult for these problems to exclude any serious injury to the bones causing you neck pain and breathing problem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
