Are Cough And Breathing Difficulty Symptoms Of Pneumonia?

Hi,I am a 61 yr. old female that has been previously diagnosed with upper respiratory infection, unfortunately I now feel I have pneumonia. I have difficulty breathing and it feels like I have a boulder sitting on me. No fever but a lot of coughing and hard to catch my breath.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You are having dyspnea complaint as per history. So it can be bronchitis or pneumonia or allergic bronchitis like condition. Your further work up is needed as follow._Auscultation _CBC _chest X-ray _pulmonary function test. According to reports further management plan decided. If bronchoconstriction present then bronchodilator like Levosalbutamol can be prescribed. Antibiotic can be given in case of pneumonia

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
