Are Cough And Fatigue Symptoms Common After Pneumonia?

I had my all-clear x-Ray last week, six weeks after being diagnosed with pneumonia in my right lung - no signs of active disease were found. Fortunately I was never hospitalized. The cough is tapering off, but I am feeling depressed and tired all the time. I am a 63-year-old female otherwise in good health except for systemic osteoarthritis. Are these symptoms common after pneumonia? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns. You recently had pneumonia and it has cleared but you are still feeling tired. I do think this is due to your infection. I recommend that you start doing minor exercise with walking daily. This maybe just small trips but as you become more tolerant to exercise you will feel better.
