Are Cramps, Nausea And Bleeding Normal After Post-op Sex?
I am 6 weeks and 5 days post-op laproscopic total hysterectomy. I was given the go ahead at 6 weeks to resume sex. Yesterday before hand I started to spot lightly. Today during the first try at post-op sex, I was able to orgasm. Immediately following I began to cramp. I made it to the bathroom and started to bleed, feel nasua, intensly sweat and actually was laying on the bathroom for over an hour until the pain passed enough that I could move. At first I thought I would have to call 911. Since then it just feels like strong menstrual cramps. Is this normal? Do you believe there may be a problem with the vagina cuff?
Immediately after an orgasm, due to the release of the hormone oxytocin, there can be some cramping of the uterus and cervix. Since you have had a total hysterectomy, the spasm may have ensued at the vaginal vault. Deeper penetration also can lead to trauma at the vault and hence the bleeding. However, you should report the matter to your health care provider and check for the vault problems. Abstain from further intercourse until you are healed well.
