Are Dizziness And Metallic Taste In Mouth Post A Hit On Head A Cause For Concern?
Hi. I hit the top of my head pretty hard and taste something very metallic. Now I feel a bit dizzy and would like to pass out but am trying to stay awake. I also right before came in from a run and took a shower, so that could be compounding it. Suggestions? Thanks.
Dizziness or Headache could be due to soft tissue swelling. In order to rule out any concussion or hemorrhage, CT scan is essential. I would suggest you to take CT or MRI brain.Blood pressure and pulse rate should also be checked. Avoid straining with excessive physical activity. Immediately consult the doctor in case of severe headache, vomiting, convulsions, nasal or ear bleeding or watery discharge.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
