Are Dry Mouth And White Tongue Symptoms Of Celiac Disease?
In the last few days I have had a very dry mouth, tasting somewhat salty. I also have a white tongue. I am in no medicines, and have been drinking water in case it s dehydration. I suspect I have celiac disease like my son. I have gone off my gluteb free diet and now am going back on . What is the deal with my tongue and drynmiuth
Hello, Your natural flora or bacteria in the mouth can be out of balance. To prevent an oral yeast infection, you should stay well hydrated and take acidopholus or probiotics. Yogurt can be helpful. If you have no improvement, see your doctor or dentist for evaluation of a fungal infection and prescription for Nystatin. Gently brush your tongue and practice good daily hygiene with brushing, flossing and rinsing. Expect some redness and sore tissue with an altered taste is common. If you are known to have gluten sensitivity and autoimmune type reactions, you need to adjust your diet. This is traumatic to tissue and when compromised, it is easy for an opportunistic fungal infection to develop. Confirm your diagnosis to help plan treatment. Medications will depend on your confirmed diagnosis and severity of symptoms. Try to control with diet and balanced vitamins. Tgank you for your inquiry.
