Are Elevated Liver Enzymes And Reduced Platelet Count Due To Naproxen?

My husband was suffering from a headache. I gave him naproxen - 4 doses over 36 hours. He went to the clinic and had blood drawn because he was so sleepy and achy. His platelet count was only 45 and his liver numbers (from a CBC) were elevated. Could the naproxen have caused this challenge?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, the naproxen would not cause these abnormal blood tests.

The fatigue, headache , muscle/joint pain, may indicate that he has an infection. It is possible that it is a viral infection such as the flu but there are other viral or bacterial infections that would need to be considered as well.

I hope this helps
