are enlarged taste buds at the back of the tongue and swollen glands at the back of the throat a definite indication of cancer? I am 52, in reasonably good health, only problem is over production of insulin, try to follow a low GI eating plan. lot of stress at work, about 7 kgs overweight

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You may have either salivary gland enlargement due to siledenitis. Or lymphnode enlargement due to reactive hyperplasia or some cancer pathology. So it can not be said definitely. You should go for biopsy of that lump. It will give you exact diagnosis. Then you should take treatment accordingly.
