Are Fever, Headache, Stomach Ache And Loss Of Appetite In A Child A Cause For Concern?

My 12 year old son has been running a 102 fever. He woke up today not feeling well, complaining of a headache and stomach ache. Loss of appetite. After checking his temperature, I gave him an advil and checked again in an hour. He still has the fever. No vomiting or diarrhea. No pain in his neck. Should I take him to the ER?

Hello,

Make sure that you are giving him the right amount of ibuprofen which is equal to adult dose 400 mg. Having a lower dose is likely not to lower it. Also, he can have a warm bath to help lower the body temperature.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
