Are Flaky, Slightly Bleeding Moles On Back And Shoulders A Cause For Concern?

I have several moles, mainly on my back. One on my shoulder has been checked by a dermatologist a few years ago and I was told it was nothing to worry about . In the past week it has changed in appearance: it became flaky, and when the top layer flaked off it bled very slightly. It is not painful (and actually looks a lot better cosmetically now). I m wondering if this is problematic.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

the skin moles are common benign conditions , problematic when following is noticed:
- Increase in number consistenly
- Change in color
- Increase size beyond 10 mm
- Border irregularity
- Bleeding
- Associated systemic symptoms of weight loss, low appetite or others

As all of above are absent in your case, I would request you not to worry and remain in regular follow up with your dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
