Are Headaches At Night Due To High Blood Pressure Levels?

Hi, I have a headache during the night when I lie down, but I don t have it during the day or when I am sitting up. It s disturbing my restfulness. I think it may be my blood pressure going up during sleep. I have had brain scan, nothing. I also have a problem with central heat and air; when I feel bad in the night I have to get up and open the window. This is going on for years, doctors don t know where to start, so I went and got the brain scan myself. It s relieved also by cranial massage.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Headaches at night can be due to tension headache, it causes insomnia, pain & restlessness. Long drives and working on computers for a long duration may cause it.

Tension headache is often triggered by some food, stress, anxiety, bad posture while on the bed, uncomfortable pillow or mattress.

Stay away from alcohol, caffeine, smoking. Take frequent computer breaks, take a shower, improve posture, apply a heating pad or ice pacK.

Contact your treating doctor, you may need muscle relaxants, analgesics, SSRI's. Stay in touch with a physiotherapist for stress management classes, CBT, Cognitive behavior therapy.

Stay outdoors on weekends, make sure you are taking abundant of oxygen. Stay active.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
