Are Heavy Bleeding Between Periods, Skin Breakouts And Sore Breasts The Signs Of Menopause?

Hi there.. I am soon to be 48 and I have had 2 periods over this past month . first being 4 days and 2nd being 7 days.. the second one was within a week of the last. It was much heavier. I have terrible breakout on chin and that I can deal with, however my breasts are killing me. Sore to touch and just ache. Is this the sign of me going into menopause? My Mother had uterus cancer and breast cancer so I have my tests done every year. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to menopause. The breakout in the chin is related to hormonal changes.

These changes can also cause irregular periods. This is a normal process of every woman, so in my opinion no treatment is needed. I recommend to do a regular check up at your gynecologist to confirm the beginning of menopause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
