General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,
Understand your concern.
Yes heavy menstrual cycles are symptoms of endometriosis
Genetics factor may play important role:
First degree relative, daughter and sister have high chance to develop endometriosis
Lack of progesterone also play a role

Following are symptoms of endometriosis:
Painful, heavy, or irregular periods
Pain and spotting during or after sex
Infertility
Painful bowel movements
Fatigue

Following are treatments of endometriosis:
1. Hormonal therapy:
- Progestrone
- Oral contraceptive pills
- Danazole and gestrinone
- GnRH agonist
- NSAIDS for pain relief
2. Surgery: if associated with sever pain and infertility
- Excision of endometrium and adhesion with preservation of uterus and ovary.

Hope this may help you.
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
