Are Hemoglobin Transfusions Effective For Low IgG?

My 10 year daughter was recently diagnosised with low igg numbers. We have been working with an immunologist for a couple of years and he has recently recommended hemoglobin transfussons. How helpful are these? are the pain and side effects worth the overall benefits of the treatment?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
After going through clinical history and treatment advised, my opinion is as follows:
1. Hemoglobin transfusions are not indicated.
2. However, intravenous immunoglobulin can be given.
3. Immune reactions are common and can be life threatening.
4. It is beneficial and risks needs to be titrated.

Any further queries, happy to help again.
