Are Increased Temperature And Swelling Normal Post Sinus Surgery?

I had sinus surgery last tuesday sinusplasticity and deviated septum fixed. I still feel bad with a temp of 96.7 and heart rate of 55 bp 96/65. Have taken the pain meds 5/325 vicodin as needed and additional acetaminophen for swelling. My dr said it usually takes 2 days to heal but I aint there. Should I call him?

Hi,

Temp. of 96.7 is not an increased or bad temperature, rather it is on the lower side of normal range. Similarly, a pulse rate of 55, of course is on the lower side of normal range, still, it alone does not seem a matter of concern, if no other symptoms of discomfort are present. More over, a BP of 96/65, is always taken as normal.

Still, one thing to be noted, if you are on some beta blocker, medicine, as it may cause very frequent readings of pulse & BP of some what lower side. Similarly, local swelling, usually, after an operation, should go within 72 hours. However, sometimes, it may take a bit longer period, may be up to 5-7 days. Hence, in my opinion, you should wait at least for a week before you go to your doctor for this.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
