Are Iron Tablets Causing My Stools To Be Blackish?
Hi, I was found to be anaemic a short while ago, although I have had low blood/heamatocric? in the past. My Dr. arranged an endoscopy and colonoscopy, both were normal so it has now been decided to give me a CT scan. My stools obviously are VERY dark, resembling boot polish but earlier today I felt very nauseuous and vomited up mainly fluids which was also very black though stringy. I was wondering if this is caused by the iron tablets?

Iron tablet can give rise to black stool.
Go for stool test for occult blood.
Stop taking iron medicine for few days and then see the color of stool.
