Are Irregular Menstruation Indicative Of Hormonal Imbalance?
The past few months my periods haven t been normal. Last month my period came on cycle day 40 (usually its day 26-29) and this month it came 5 days early and stopped on day 2 but then started 48 hours later and is heavy. Could this mean i have a hormone imbalance? Or is it caused by something else?
Hi. I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Change in the regularity of menstrual cycle could be due to many conditions, not only hormonal imbalances. It includes overweight or low body weight, Stress (mostly), Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or Thyroid problems or few other causes.
I advice you to 1. Check your hemoglobin levels 2. Do Thyroid function test. 3. Do YOGA & stress management 4. Nutritious diet rich in protein & iron 5. Exercise. 6. Consult a gynaecologist for a USG to rule out any underlying pathology
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care. Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
