Are Itchy Blisters On Body With Bumps On Head Indicative Of Shingles?
I recently went to the doctors where I was diagnosed with and given medication for shingles, but I am convinced I have scabies. I have no rashes, no pain, and while I do have blisters -- and only a very few at that -- they contain no fluids. I am experiencing severe itching everywhere. The itching worsens at night. Along with itching, I have small bumps, small blisters, and tunnel-like tracks on my hand. Do I have shingles?
General & Family Physician, Dr. ABDL RAUF's Response
You have described beautifully the lesions on your body . But visual inspection of the rash by an expert physician/dermatologist will make a sure and definite diagnosis of your skin condition. If the doctor has diagnosed as shingles and already given the treatment then use that for few days and see the result.
In shingles the duration of illness is usually short . Rash develops within few days .Initial symptoms may be like other viral illness which may or may not include , fever low grade to moderate , malaise , body pains and feeling tired. in 2-3 days rash appears which are mixed including small blisters .
in scabies the rash and itch will slowly develop for a period of a time and initially may not be considered as significant . itching is more at night usually .
