Are Itchy Patches On The Neck, Cheeks And Upper Chest Suggestive Of Shingles?
OK I have an itchy patch on my neck, spreading out from below my earlobe, across my cheek and down my neck across my upper chest around the clavicle. I have had it about three weeks, not TOO uncomfortable, but if touched by ends of my hair, or a scarf or collar it gives me a sort of electrical feeling and also I hear some noises in my ear that sound like little electrical noises. ZZt ZZt Mild shingles? oh YYYY@YYYY
Usually the shingles or herpes zoster occurs when the dormant chickenpox virus ( varicella-zoster), is reactivated in your nerve tissues. Early signs of shingles include tingling and localized pain as you had .
Most, but not all, people with shingles develop a blistering rash. You may also experience itching, burning, or deep pain. So, this could be a mild form of shingles but to be sure you need a physical examination by ID specialist and take a tissue scraping or culture of the blisters for examination in the laboratory ore serology for VZV (varicella zoster virus).
I hope my answer help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Monika Dede
