Are Itchy Rashes The Side Effect Of Amoxicillin?

I just came off amoxicillin. My Brother, grand mother and great grand father have had serious life threatening reactions to it.
My hands started itching and now my feet. my hands however have red little bumps or areas which look like a rash of some kind. I am also itching down in other areas. Any idea what this is?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain itching in hands and feet along with red bumps seems to be an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin..
It is one of the common presentation of antibiotics to cause Urticaria or itching along with bumps and rashes..
I would suggest you to immediately stop taking Amoxicillin and also start taking anti allergics like Levocetrizine..
You can apply steroid containing ointment over the bumps..
Do cool compresses and also apply Calamine lotion for relief..
You should always tell about the symptoms in future also to your physician before they prescribe you antibiotics so that they can prescribe you other gorups of antibiotics..
An allergic test can also be advised so that it can be ruled out which antibiotic is safter and compatible to your body..
