Are Lip Movements And Swallowing In Sleep Normal While Suffering From LBD?

My husband was in an unresponsive episode at the memory care facility where he resides. His vitals were normal, but after 1.5 hours of no response from him, they called for an ambulance and took him to the ER without consulting me first. I have medical power of attorney. At the ER, Ativan given via IV produced a response, and then he appeared to go to sleep as he was snoring. While in a sleeping mode he moved his lips and appeared to swallow. The doctor said that this is common with LBD and if it happens again, the facility doesn t need to send him to the ER. What do you think about this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is completely normal to have lip movements and swallowing movements while asleep. In my opinion your doctor is right in saying but prolonged breathlessness should be attended with due care as sometime it may prolong indefinitely.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
