Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Saddiq-ul-Abidin. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

I am sorry to know about the problems your little child is facing at the moment but it is a pleasure indeed to know that she is recovering well with the medicines prescribed to her.

You asked about the possible causes of increased sleep and loss of appetite in you daughter. I will hereby tell you possible reasons in detail

1)Loss of appetite:

-Top suspect to have caused this is her disease, when one is unwell , the appetite automatically decreases same seems to be happening with your child she is unwell and having flu, cough runny nose so she is not feeling urge to eat.
Patients with these problems have a bad lethargy and body aches which a 4 months old child can not tell about , but she must be feeling sick so she is not taking in enough she will improve as her problem improves you just have to keep trying to feed her as much as possible so that she doesn't get weak and stays hydrated.

-Cough meds can cause loss of appetite because they suppress brain centres a bit to control cough.

2) Increased Sleep:

-Here top culprit are cough meds, cough and allergy meds cause increased sleep as a side effect you don't have to worry about that.

-Other suspect is her disease she must be feeling sick and lethargic so taking more rest. Plus it is our defence mechanism that when body gets a stress we sleep more to recover better so in my opinion her symptoms will get better as his allergy and cough settles down. You don't have to worry things will be alright.

I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer.Otherwise rate and close the discussion
