Are Memory Loss, Loss Of Communication Skills And Anger Issues Suggestive Of Dementia?

i think my grandma is developing dementia, but my aunts, uncles, and parents don t see what i see. lights are left on. front doors, garage doors are left open. she doesn t call any of her grandkids by the correct name anymore. she will make up things she cant explain (ie she blamed my cousin for opening the garage door, who is too young, too short to press it) she recently got angry for me for giving me money i never requested. i cannot have decent conversations with her anymore. her english (second language) is getting worse. am i right to be worried?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Loss of memory or forgetfullnes is common problem in old age and is called senile dementia.
There is no cure for senile dementia since it is an age related disorder and not reversible.
Support, care and understanding are required for people suffering from senile dementia.
Another more serious cause of dementia is Alzheimer disease.
Alzheimer disease is also age related but is more serious than senile dementia.
In alzheimer disease there is forgetfulness for recent events as compared to remote events.
Certain drugs are available for the disease which may slow the progression but there is no permanent cure.
I suggest you to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment, diagnosis and best possible management.

Thanks and take care
