Are No Bowel Movements In An Infant For 5 Consecutive Days A Concern?

I started my baby on solids about 2 weeks ago. He hasn t done a poo since Sunday morning. Nearly 5 days. He is exclusively breast fed and was pooing about 1 to 2 times a day before this. Should I be concerned? I gave him some prune juice with this morning feed. Should I just breastfeed until he poos?

Hi,

Thanks for your question on HCM

I do understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned do not change so quickly to solid if change is required start in small quantity only and when he will be habituated then he can take full solid. Now give him a pediatric glycerin suppository for motion. You can get it from any drug store without any prescription and keep it in refrigerator when need give one in anal . Try to make at least one motion per day which is good for his health.

Hope that helps
