Are Nose Bleeds A Cause For Concern?

I had a tonsillectomy 3 days ago. I ve noticed when I wake up that I m getting nose bleeds, they re not really thick and there isn t usually a worrying amount of blood but there s definitely blood. I can t see any in my throat, and so I was wondering if I should be worried about these nose bleeds? (I don t think it should be down to the air humidity or anything, as I m in my own bed and have the window open for a little fresh air too)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Occasional nosebleeds are usually nothing to worry about. They can be related to microtrauma of the vessels in the nose or due to dry air.

I suggest using the saline nasal spray for local application to prevent the hemorrhage. If the nosebleed is frequent you should consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
